Cancellation and Refunds

Cancellation and refund eligibility at each stage of work and submission.

1. General principles

Refunds are calculated based on the amount actually paid, work started or completed, payments to the Korean IP Office, and the payment method. Any applicable law or individual agreement more favorable to the consumer takes priority.
No fees arise before payment. A bank-transfer request canceled before receipt is confirmed is not recorded as a received payment or refund.

2. Rules by stage

•
Before payment confirmation: you may cancel the order. No refund procedure is needed if no payment was received.
•
After payment confirmation but before the search starts: a full refund is provided if no payment-processing or other actual costs have arisen.
•
Cancellation or suspension after the earlier-mark search or report preparation starts: fees for completed or already performed search and report work are deducted. Unperformed filing work and prepaid official fees not yet paid to the Korean IP Office are refunded.
•
Cancellation or suspension after report delivery but before filing: report fees are generally non-refundable. Unperformed filing work and official fees not yet paid to the Korean IP Office are refunded according to the criteria shown for the case.
•
After filing: fees for filing work already performed and official fees already paid are not refunded. Any recoverable amount is handled based on the amount actually recovered.
•
Separate work, including office action responses, registration, and renewal: the same principles apply according to whether the work has started, been submitted, or involved payment of official fees.

3. When the Firm advises against filing

If the Firm advises against filing in its report, it may refund the filing fees agreed on the order screen and provide a one-time report-fee waiver voucher for a later application. The voucher's name, eligibility conditions, and expiry are shown when issued.

4. Changes to classes or filing scope

If the number of classes decreases after report review and before final filing, the difference is calculated using the displayed allocation per class and the search work already performed. Any separate agreement about including search fees is applied. Additional payment for more classes, non-standard designated goods, or other additional work is requested only after the user confirms the amount.
A change between standard and priority examination before final filing triggers recalculation for the new route. An increase is payable after confirmation. A decrease is refunded after deducting priority-examination work already performed. After an application or priority-examination request has been submitted, changes and refunds may be restricted according to the work and payments already completed.

5. Multiple trademarks and partial cancellation

Each mark in a multiple-trademark application is a separate application. Even when paid in a single transfer, amounts are allocated internally per mark. Partial cancellations and refunds are based on that mark's work status and allocated amount.

6. Refund method and timing

Online payments are normally refunded through cancellation to the original payment method. Bank transfers are refunded to an account registered by the user in the name of the user or another lawful recipient. Once the Firm confirms the refund amount and account, it processes the refund within the applicable statutory period and sends an account notification and email upon completion.
